Obituary for John Raymond D'Amato

John Raymond D'Amato (Jack) passed away January 19, 2022 after struggling with heart failure complicated by Covid. Jack was born on June 8, 1954 in Enfield, Connecticut. The last half of his life was spent in Brimfield, then Easthampton, and lastly in Chicopee Massachusetts.
Jack was a devoted and beloved husband of 40 years to Mary (Luszcz) D'Amato and a loving father to Edward (deceased 2016), Rebecca, Sarah, Selena and his 4 grandchildren. Jack's sister Peggy Allen and his brothers Michael and David had predeceased him. His brother Dominick and wife Auden along with his brother Raymond and wife Cynthia are still kicking, but have been retired from the chorus line. Jack had many nephews and nieces and their families. He could name them all and kept up with their antics.
Jack worked for a decade at Dexter (now Ahlstrom) as a Converting Supervisor and then went to work for Prudential Insurance as a Sales Manager. Jack was a lifetime practicing Roman Catholic and in his 40's became a Eucharistic Minister. Jack was a passionate advocate for foster care and adoption services. He served on the Treehouse Foundations board of directors. Treehouse is a multi-generational community supporting those who are fostering or adopting children.
Jack was also well versed in medical and social benefit programs and helped many people navigate through the hurdles in the system to get the help they needed.
Jack had a mind for numbers which made him an excellent card player. A year before the pandemic he learned how to play bridge at the senior center. He was a quick learner and it wasn't long before he was introducing a few new approaches to the game that had not been witnessed before. Jack D'Amato was bigger than life and he will be missed.
