Joseph "Ben" F.  Fournier
Joseph “Ben” F. Fournier, 57, of Enfield, died peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends. Joe was born in Weedon, P.Q., Canada on June 2, 1956. He had lived in the Enfield community since 2004 and was a communicant of St. Adalbert Church. Joe recently retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Correction after twenty years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4044 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Joe was an avid Yankee’s fan and enjoyed the beach and many genres of music. He enjoyed playing pool especially when he beat his brother, Don. Joe had a great passion for restoring his 1977 MGB. He enjoyed collecting memorabilia and his garage was a museum filled with all things dear to his heart. Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Donna M. (Patti) Fournier; his parents, Raymond and Lucille (Poulin) Fournier; his two sisters and brother, Lucie and Bob Modzelewski of Enfield, Donald and Sue Fournier of Enfield, Lynn Smith of Warwick, RI; his sister in law Roberta and Paul LaMonaca of Windsor; four nieces, Ariel and Savannah Kresge and Katie and Sarah LaMonaca; and his extended family of many aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada. Joe was blessed with many friends, “The Tribe”, Linda and Mike, Donna and Craig, Jodi and Mario and Robin and Paul who were all at his bedside. Family and friends will gather on Friday, May 23, 2104 by 10:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels for a procession to St. Adalbert Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Joe’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Hartford Hospital Bliss 11 ICU. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Boy Scout Troop 818, c/o Moose Lodge 124 South Road, Enfield, CT 06082 or St. Adalbert Church, 64 Pearl St., Enfield, CT 06082.
