Obituary for Joseph "Joe" A. Kuliesh

Joseph "Joe" A. Kuliesh, 63, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2018, in Enfield, Connecticut.
Joe was a life-long resident of Enfield. Saint Adalbert’s church played an important role
in both his young life when he attended the church’s grammar school and was selected to be an altar boy. As an adult, he continued the family tradition of involvement with St Adalbert’s as a communicant, worked on fund raisers and as an usher.
Prior to his recent retirement, Joe was employed by the United States Department of Defense where he oversaw millions of dollars of contracts every year. After earning his Master’s Degree from Western New England College, Joe began his nearly 40 year career for the federal government at the urging of his Uncle Peke (Stanley Gill), who himself had worked in the same department for 40 years –- quite a family dynasty. In his youth, Joe was the recipient of his mother’s home schooling in investment
strategies on their daily walks. He was quick to build upon the guidance of his tutor extraordinaire by geometrically expanding his stock portfolio throughout his life-time, his success no doubt was attributable to Joe’s extraordinary ability to remember arcane facts, figures, dates and other esoteric business and political factoids. This investment prowess, legendary in the family, was often shared with both his Uncle Jeff (Joseph S. Gill) and cousins – whether requested or not. But Joe’s investment success was not limited to the stock market. Over the years, Joe had another hobby: buying and flipping real estate. He loved real estate as much as the stock market and had a real knack for successful trades. His most recent project involved the restoration of his Uncle Jeff’s cabin at Cedar Lake in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, where he spent many childhood, hours barbecuing, swimming, water skiing and boating. Joe often filled his spare hours with his two greatest thrills. During the summer months, Joe could be found speeding around Cedar Lake on his supercharged jet ski. During the winter months, he would spend every opportunity seeking new ski slopes to conquer.
Joe is survived by his sister Mary Lynn Kuliesh of Enfield, his best friend Denise Langan of Enfield, his aunt Lillian Ziwot of Far Hills, New Jersey and numerous cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his mother Frances Gill Kuliesh and father Joseph J. Kuliesh as well as his uncles Joseph and Stanley Gill and his aunt Stephanie Gill Lesniewski.
Joe’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 9:00 AM at the Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield (Exit 48 off 1-91, Rt. 220 East 1¼ miles). This will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Raymond of Penafort Parish (St. Adalbert's Church), 90 Alden Avenue, Enfield, CT 06082. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Enfield. Memorials may be made to St. Raymond of Penafort Parish, (St. Adalbert Church) 64 Pearl Street Enfield, CT 06082.
