Obituary for Josephine M. Martinez (Devinney)

Josephine (Jane) Devinney Martinez, 101, of Suffield, CT entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 27, 2023. She was the beloved wife of 44 years to the late Frank Martinez (1991), Sr. Born on September 10, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late William J. and Josepine F. (Schmitt) Devinney. She raised her family and worked as an office clerk for Bevco Industries in PA, before retiring to Florida with her husband. Where she resided for 30 years and then in CT for the past 8 years to be near family. Her long life can be attributed to her strong faith & her ability to adjust to many changes. She was always searching for a good book. Affectionately, referred to as “Hurricane Jane” staying active was very important to her. Her nurse called her, her “Spark Plug”. She went zip lining at the age of 93 & was the Champion Wii Bowler wherever she lived. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother her life was dedicated to caring for her family and home.
Jane is survived by a son Frank Martinez, Jr. & wife Marianne of Cherry Hill, NJ, a daughter Joanne King & husband Bruce of Enfield, CT and a daughter-in-law Marjorie Martinez of Columbia, MD, her grandchildren; Scott Kornick & wife Beth of Indiatlantic, FL, Jason Kornick & wife Melissa of Enfield, CT, Sara Erickson & husband Ryan of Bloomfield, CT, Michael Martinez & wife Patsy of Grafton, MA, Matthew Martinez & wife Jennifer of Hopkinton, MA, Brendan Martinez & wife Jane of Schenectady, NY, Kevin Martinez & wife Samantha of Whitinsville, MA, Zachary Martinez & wife Laura of Milford, CT, Jonathan Martinez & wife Jennifer of Fairfield, CT, her 20 beloved great grandchildren, plus 1 from her family at Eagle Pointe, along with her special friends Cheryl & Pat Benoit. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son William Martinez in 1997. Her family would especially like to thank the nurse and staff at Eagle Pointe for their love and care.
Relatives and friends may gather with her family on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 S. Elm St. Windsor Locks, CT. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield, CT.
