Obituary for Judith A. Hatch Whitehead (Lyon)

Judith A. (Lyon) Hatch Whitehead, 89, of Enfield, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, June 6, 2021 in the comfort of her home with loved ones at her side. She was the beloved wife of 32 years to Donald E. Hatch and of 28 years to Paul Whitehead. Born on Oct. 30, 1931 she was a loving daughter of the late Milton H. and Lola F. (Dunn) Lyon and had resided in Enfield since 1959. Judith was a graduate of Edward Little H.S., Auburn, ME. Prior to retiring Judith was employed with J.P. Food Service, South Windsor and before that with Connecticut General Insurance, Bloomfield in the 1960’s and The Traveler’s Insurance in the 1980’s. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, knitting baby blankets, reading mysteries, and baby sitting for her grandchildren.
Judith is survived by four children, Daniel E. Hatch and wife Faith of Springfield, MA, Ruth-Anne Monroe and husband Jim of Enfield, Tracey L. Morin and husband William of Enfield, and Jody Balboni of Barkhamstead, her 19 beloved grandchildren and 17 cherished great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Caryl Wagg of Brownville, ME as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Along with her husbands and parents, she was also predeceased by a son Timothy M. Hatch and two sisters Joyce Simpson of NJ and Jayne Stroup of PA.
Her family would especially like to graciously thank, granddaughter Nicole Drury for her dedicated and loving care given to her grandmother, as well as caregivers, Esther Villafane and Valerializ Suarez.
Relatives and friends may gather with Judith’s family on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Enfield Street Cemetery, Enfield.
