Obituary for Kathleen "Cathy" Collins (Connelly)

Kathleen Connelly Collins, 77, of Enfield, CT died peacefully on February 28, 2023, after a brief illness. As others have said before, cancer does not discriminate on who it tries to take or hurt in its path. Cathy was courageous in her battle with cancer, faced it head on with all she had, and her family couldn’t be prouder of her. Cathy was born on November 6, 1945, in Peterborough, NH. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Jeannette (Young) Johnston. She was the beloved wife of the late Theodore “Ted” Collins, Sr of 45 years. Cathy worked for over 30 years at Pratt & Whitney in the Graphic Arts department. As passed on from her mother, Cathy was an avid gardener and bird watcher. She never missed watching a UConn women’s or men’s basketball game or a Boston Red Sox game. She passed her time crocheting, reading, finishing puzzle after puzzle in record speed, and watching favorite shows on Masterpiece. She loved the late Summer and early Autumn timeframe to visit The Big E and other local fairs with her family. Her greatest joy in life was looking after her two favorite little munchkins, her granddaughters. Cathy is survived by her son, Theodore “Ted” Collins, Jr, of Enfield, CT, her daughter Melanie Collins, of Broad Brook, CT, and her granddaughters: Olivia and Caroline. She is also survived by her three siblings, Lucinda (Gene) Giemza, of Cambridge, NY, Corinne Thresher and Robert Johnston, both of East Hampton, CT; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by many other loving sisters and brothers-in-laws. The family will have a private memorial service to honor Cathy.
