Obituary for Lawrence Louis "Larry" Telmosse

Lawrence “Larry” L. Telmosse, 88, of Enfield passed into eternal life on Saturday, April 9, 2022. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Olga (Wittmann) Telmosse. Born on May 24, 1933 in Springfield, MA to the late Lawrence and Anne (Douglass) Telmosse, he had resided in Enfield for the past 65 years. Larry served our country proudly with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to retiring he was employed with the Town of Enfield for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Tanguay MaGill Post 80 Enfield, Republican Town Committee and Holy Trinity Church, Hazardville, and former President of AFSCME Local 1303 Chapter 046. No matter how you knew him, whether as Opa or Larry, you knew he loved to talk, laugh and sing. It seems like anyone who met Larry became a friend. He was always ready to talk about news, share his knowledge or tell a great story. He loved traveling, driving the Mohawk Trail in the fall or to Misquamicut in the summer. Other trips included Disney, Reno, Arizona, and Nova Scotia. Larry and Olga traveled to Germany, her home country many times where he became an honorary German himself. He always enjoyed a beer and a braut. Larry was extremely proud of his family and never hesitated to talk about them. He also had great groups of friends who always were up for a chat or to go to breakfast. Thank you all for visiting and offering support these last few weeks. He left this earthly world knowing he was always loved and with a song.
Along with his wife Olga, he is survived by a daughter Heide Sulewski of Enfield and her son Benjamin, a son Thomas Telmosse of Enfield and his children James, Mitchell, Andrew and Shelby, along with nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by a sister Alice Coolbeth.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm followed by military honors at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. Burial will be at a later date in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675 or charity of the donor’s choice.
