Obituary for Leonard D. Bourgoin, Jr.

Leonard “Len” Bourgoin, Jr. 87, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 21, 2020 in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Lucille (Cormier) Bourgoin. Born on July 10, 1933 in Van Buren, Maine to the late Leonard D. Sr., and Jeanne (Cote) Bourgoin and had resided in Enfield for the past 62 years and in Hartford before that.
He was educated in Van Buren and was a graduate of Van Buren H.S. He then enlisted into the service and was a U.S Army Veteran during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion. Prior to retiring in 1992, Leonard was employed for 36 years with AcMat Local 43. Leonard was an avid golfer, loved the Boston Red Sox, UCONN Huskies Women’s Basketball, Celtics, NE Patriots and NY Giants. He loved traveling with his brother-in-law Dick Cormier and wife Marie Claire, adored his grandchildren attends their recitals, softball and soccer games and never missed his Big E trips with his girls & boys! He was a funny man and made jokes that left us in tears!
In addition to his loving wife Lucille, he is survived by his beloved children: Theodore Bourgoin & wife Rita of Enfield, Betty Jeanne (Bourgoin) Zaniewski of Windsor and James, Peter Bourgoin & wife Debbie of St. Johnsbury, VT, and Lori Bourgoin of Somers, his five adored grandchildren; Matthew Bourgoin, Amy Bourgoin, Krystyna Zaniewski Normand, Jillian Zaniewski Duafala and Trent Bourgoin. He is also survived by his siblings; Gilbert Bourgoin & wife Becky of Wallingford, Gerald Bourgoin & wife Sandra of Winter Port, ME, Normand Bourgoin & wife Irene of Haines City, FL and Rita Mercurio & husband Steve of Miller Place, NY, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Leonard was predeceased by a son David Bourgoin.
