Obituary for Lucy C. Scalia (Capaccio)

Lucy C. (Capaccio) Scalia, 95, of Longmeadow, MA, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Joseph A. Scalia, Sr. Born on December 3, 1926 in Bracigliano, Italy to the late Francesco and Rose (Cardaropoli) Capaccio, she resided in Enfield for over 50 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. She loved to cook and entertain, and always had pastry and food available for people who stopped in to visit. She enjoyed participating in many activities at Ruth’s House with her son John over the past year including bingo, arts and crafts, and concerts.
Lucy is survived by her son Joseph A. Scalia, his wife Michelle (her children Suzanna & Brenna Nichols), and her son John Scalia; her sister, Louise Goodrich & husband David of Wilbraham, MA; two sisters-in-law, Ann Bottaro of Enfield, CT and Dorothy Capaccio of Florida; along with many godchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by siblings Nicholas Capaccio and Josephine Nevins.
Calling hours for Lucy will be on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Browne Memorial
Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 10:00 am in St. Patrick Church, St. Raymond of Penafort Parish, Enfield. Mask are mandatory during the services at the request of the family.

Interment will then take place in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in Lucy’s name can be made to Ruth’s House, 780 Converse St. Longmeadow, MA 01106.
