Obituary

Margaret “Monie” (Boyle) Moran Tardy was born to Walter L. and Helen M. (O’Malley) Boyle on July 14,
1922 in her childhood home built by her father in Gilman Vt. for their family. Margaret attended Vermont schools. Her childhood was filled with family, dancing and music. Her mother was a Music teacher and everyone played an instrument or two, and this has been passed down to the next generation. Margaret assisted her parents in numerous businesses, but mostly at the Gilman Post Office where her mother was the Postmaster for years.
Margaret married her first husband William Moran and bore 2 sons that she is survived by,
William and his wife Hazel from Waynesboro, VA., and Jeffrey Moran from Enfield CT with whom she resided, along with her husband and grandson Shayne Moran who left his life in Boston Ma. to move in to help his father care for his grandmother, who was a second mother to him. Margaret left Vermont to move to Connecticut following her brother Walter and acquired a job at Hamilton Standard for 27 years till retirement. She then took a job at G. Fox and Company for about 10 years. In that time Margaret remarried Norman Tardy and built a nice life together in Enfield CT with her new extended family. Her stepson Jack Tardy and his
partner Lisa, and step daughter Dottie Hershman and husband Jerry. Margaret was always busy either working, sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, cooking, watching her family’s children and her favorite free time, listening to music or reading. Family was always extremely important to Margaret. She loved to have her grandchildren with her. She also helped her niece Kathleen who was like a daughter to her, with her 2 boys whom she helped watch for years, Eric and Justin. Especially the last Justin Arnold. She stepped in as grandmother to him when his grandmother could no longer be there for him. This is the type of woman she was, loving, giving and always there with a helping hand. When she lost her vision, it impacted her entire world, but she handled it with the utmost grace. She would never let anyone see her cry. She dealt with it like the lady she was. She was special to all of us. Family is important is something she had instilled in all her family members. Help one another and stay together. At this time of year, Christmas, Margaret was famous for her Christmas cookies. We could not wait till our Christmas cookie box came even straight down to Virginia, who always ended up with the most…”lol”. Margaret was grateful to many who assisted her in these last few years. Along with her son Jeffrey who was her main caregiver, her grandson Shayne, her niece Kathleen, she was grateful to 2 great nieces who came all the time. Shannon Michele and Shannon Margaret. Their help, visits with their kids was something she looked forward too. Also, a special friend Sharon, who she loved, who would visit and spend time with her. She enjoyed those visits. She also enjoyed talking on the phone. A special thanks to niece Jo Ann Gilman who called her on a regular basis up until the end. She loved to reminisce and hear a friendly voice.
Besides her husband Norman Tardy and sons, Margaret is survived by many grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Darryl Moran and partner Jesse, Shayne Moran, William Downs and wife Aimee, step-grandchildren Kathleen Jeremiah and husband Ian, and Andrew Ocheltree and Channa. She was blessed with great grandchildren as well, Josephine Kay Moran and Charlotte Rose Downs, and step-great grandchildren, Camilie, Michaila and Drezdon Ocheltree, Mabel and Harrison Jeremiah. She is also survived by many dear nephews and nieces who were all her children and many great nephews and nieces.
Besides her parents, Margaret was preceded by her entire family, she was our last and now she can see and dance and sing with her family, Rita (Boyle) Frechette, Eugenia (Gina) Boyle, Helena (Tootie) Boyle, Patricia Ann (Boyle) Sullivan, MSgt. Walter J. Boyle, Daniel Boyle. She was also preceded by 2 nephews who were dear to her, Timothy Sullivan and William (Sully) Sullivan, also a Godson, niece Helen M. Boyle, great niece Kelly Bunnell and her brother (great nephew) Brian Young. She also lost stepson John Tardy who spent a lot of time with the family from the time he was young. Our angel Margaret will be loved and missed by all. This is a long tribute, but she deserves even more. She thought everyone deserved more in life and she would give it to anyone if she could. God speed our last little Irish Angel, fly free, dance, sing and watch over us all.
In lieu of flowers, Monetary donations can be sent to the Dana Farber Institute in Boston Ma.
450 Brookline Ave. Boston, Ma. 02215.
