Martha D. Tucker, 83, of Ellington, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 in the comfort of her home with loved ones at her side. She was the beloved wife of Richard Tucker. Martha was born on September 3, 1939 in Burlington, VT, a daughter of the late Henry and Pearl (Bates) Shortsleeves. She had resided in VT for 25 years, as well as Somers, Enfield, & Ellington. Martha was a graduate of Northfield, VT H.S. class of 1957. Prior to her retirement in 2002 Martha was employed with the Enfield School System for 31 years.
In her leisure time she loved to go to auctions with best friend Pauline Melbourne in search of antiques, enjoyed home interior decorating, and took many trips to Ireland, Canary Islands, Aruba, Hawaii, Florida, and New Orleans.
In addition to her husband, Martha is survived by her loving children; Gregory Tucker of Windsor Locks, Lonnie & Michelle Tucker of Norfolk, VA, Darren Tucker and companion Sandy of Enfield and Dorrie & John Enzien of Saratoga Springs, NY, her ten beloved grandchildren and 8 cherished great grandchildren.
Along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son Dean Tucker, and two brothers Norman and Maurice Shortsleeves. Service will be held at a later date.
