Michael Francis Kilty, Jr. 102, of Windsor Locks, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 3, 2022. He was the beloved husband of 70 years to the late Dorothy (King) Kilty. Born on August 12, 1920 in the Warehouse Point section of East Windsor to the late Michael F. and Catherine E. (O’Neill) Kilty, Sr. He had resided in Windsor Locks for the past 61 years. Michael was a graduate of Cathedral H.S. and received a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from College of Holy Cross, Worcester, MA, had three patents for inventions.
Join the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after a month, due to a heart murmur. Then became a member of the CT State Guard. He retired 37 years ago from AMF Cuono, Inc. where he was employed for many years. Michael loved the Long Island Sound, being on the beach listening to baseball on his radio and going for a swim, relaxing at his summer home in Old Lyme, reading science fiction and true crime stories, loved time with his children and grandkids, and was an avid sports fan, Red Sox and N.E. Patriots. He was a member of the American Legion Post 36 Windsor Locks for over 50 years.
Michael is survived by a son Daniel J. Kilty (Charlene) of Enfield, and a daughter Colleen Forsyth (Michael “Snip”) of Enfield, and predeceased by three sons Michael, Johnny and Dennis Kilty and a daughter Debra Villone, also survived by seven grandchildren; Lindsay and Kara Villone, Allison, Steven and Jeffrey Kilty, Mindy Andruch, and Jennie Rose Forsyth, and one great grandchild, along with other family. He was also predeceased by a brother Paul Kilty and a sister Kathleen Malloy.
Relatives and friends may join his family during calling hours on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 from 9:00 to 11:30 am at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church (Mary Gate of Heaven Parish) 42 Spring St. Windsor Locks. Interment will then take place in St. Catherine Cemetery, Broad Brook, CT. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Legion Gensi-Viola Post 36, 36 Fairview St. Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
