Obituary for Nazzareno "Nazz" Aquilio

Nazzareno “Nazz” Joseph Aquilio, 94, of Enfield, entered peacefully into eternal rest, on Thursday, March 10, 2022. He was the beloved husband of 71 years to Helen (Swist) Aquilio. Born on October 17, 1927 in Hyde Park, Massachusetts to the late Nazzareno and Lena (Lattanzio) Aquilio. He resided in Enfield for the past 71 years. Nazz served his country proudly with the US Army during WWII. After being discharged, he was employed for 8 years as a truck driver for Carlisle’s in Springfield and then 30 years as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney/UTC in East Hartford. Additionally, in retirement he worked 25 years for Brownes Memorial Chapels. Nazz was a devout member of St. Adalbert Church in Enfield, and was a member of Enfield’s Detection of Thieves & Robbers. Having graduated from the New England School of Watch Repair, he enjoyed repairing watches and clocks. He also enjoyed gardening and sharing his crops with family and friends, spending time at his second home on the Cape, visiting the Felician Sisters on Donut Run Thursdays, and having morning coffee with the Dunkin Donut Crew.
Besides his wife Helen, he is survived by two sons, Robert Aquilio and his wife Jane of Enfield and Raymond Aquilio of Holland, MA, his four beloved grandchildren Lisa Hayward of Suffield, Katie Aquilio of Enfield, Matthew Aquilio of East Windsor, and Michael Aquilio of Enfield, four cherished great grandchildren Aiden, Preston, Olivia, and Madelyn, a sister Rita Marascio of Norwood, MA, along with many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by two brothers Arthur and Ernest Aquilio and two sisters Emma Sacchetti and Agatha Prebis. Relatives and friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Patrick Church (St. Raymond of Penafort Parish) Enfield. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Felician Sisters 1315 Enfield St. Enfield, CT 06082.
