Obituary for Phyllis T. Haber (Pietras)

Phyllis T. (Pietras) Haber, 94, of Enfield, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 with loved ones at her side in the comfort of her home. She was the beloved wife of 37 years until his passing the late Edward Haber. Born on August 13, 1929 in Chicopee Falls, MA, a daughter of the late Walter and Lucille (Bolon) Pietras. She was raised in Chicopee Falls and was a graduate of Chicopee H.S. Class of 1948 and took some business courses. Later she moved to the Thompsonville sections of Enfield where she resided for more than 50 years. In her earlier years Phyllis worked in Mass Mutual Administration and Higgins School Cafeteria.
In her spare-time she enjoyed gardening, Polish food and Polish dancing, Wiligia- a Polish traditional gathering on the night before Christmas, family vacations on Cape Cod, Hampton Beach, and picnics in Brimfield Park. She had fond memories of drawings, cards and creations from her great nephew and nieces, long conversations with her sister-in-law Jane Haber and visits with Sandra Haber Jones, laughter was the topic with her conversations with her friend Frank Stanley and his daughter Christine and dear friend Carol Bigda.
Phyllis is survived by her two loving sons Ken Haber and Gary Haber and his life partner Delores, nieces and nephews; David Pietras and Kathy Binault, Julia Starzyk, Ruth Churchill (also her God daughter), Beverly Grenier, Gail Maclean and many other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by siblings; George (Mitsie) Pietras, Thedore (Teddy) Pietras, Edna Starzyk, Rudolph (Rudie) Pietras, Adolph (Pete) & wife Jenny Pietras, and Alice Zerdecki. Phyllis cared for many of her family members in their time of need. She lived a simply life, was the go-to person for many with her loving, understanding and caring touch, which will be forever missed.
Relatives and friends may gather with her family on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00 pm at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield, CT. Interment will follow in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a local Animal Shelter.
