Richard Victor Michalik, beloved husband of 53 years, of Patricia E. (Lafayette) Michalik, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital with his family at his side, at the age of 78.
Born on May 2, 1943 in Chicopee, MA, a son of Victor Frank and Stella (Mis) Michalik, he was a longtime resident of Enfield.
Richard was a graduate of Chicopee Vocational Trade School and later served his country honorably in the Air National Guard out of Barnes Air Force Base with active duty in France.
He was a graduate of the Hartford Police Academy, class of 1967, and was employed as a police officer, for over 19 years, before retiring as Patrolman in 1987.
Richard was a collector of stamps, coins, antiques, and military items. He was a man who could find the hidden values in things others couldn’t.
He enjoyed the many gatherings, over the years, with his longtime friends who shared his same interests. He also enjoyed the many cups of coffee he shared with his wife, Pat, at many local restaurants and coffee houses.
He leaves his loving wife Patricia, and children, Richard “Rick” Michalik and, Christine Mastrangelo all of Enfield, 2 cherished grandchildren, Andrew Joseph and Alexis Nicole Mastrangelo, sister, Marcia Virginia Harding and her husband, Francis Xavier of Holyoke, numerous nieces and nephews including, Robert Michalik of Easthampton, and several cousins.
A period of visitation will be held for Richard on Thursday, May 5, from 9 - 10 a.m. at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow, MA 01106. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Church or to the Preventive Medicine Center, 1000 Asylum Avenue, #2109, Hartford, CT06105.
