Obituary for Rita Skizewski (Carrieri)

Rita (Carrieri) Skizewski, 81, of Enfield, entered into eternal life on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in the comfort of her home with loved ones at her side. She was the beloved wife of 51 years to Richard Skizewski. Rita was born on June 9, 1939 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, CT, daughter of the late Raffaele and Carmella (Albano) Carrieri and was a life-long resident. She was a graduate of Enfield H.S. and received an Associates Degree from Asnuntuck Community College. Rita was employed with Colt Firearms, Enfield Teachers Association, Sweetlife/Super Valu and retired as an Administrative Assistant from Hazardville United Methodist Church. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Church and member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Women’s Auxiliary. Rita had a flair for decorating and an artistic talent, she loved spending time with family, especially the grandkids.
Besides her husband Richard, she is survived by two daughters Beth Moores of Suffield, and Traci Potter & husband Chris of Suffield, a stepson Richard Skizewski, Jr. of Honolulu, HI, and a stepdaughter Jayne Skizewski & partner Sheila of Enfield, her seven cherished grandkids; Emily, Riley, Connor, Sam, Jakob, Ben & Isabel, a sister Phyllis Rookey of Enfield, a brother Nick Carrieri & Deb of Somers, and a sister-in-law Betty Carrieri, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Fedeli Carrieri and a brother-in-law Robert Rookey.
Calling hours for Rita will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 10:00 am in St. Patrick Church, Enfield. Interment will follow in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Enfield. Mask and social distancing are required during the services.
