Obituary

ENFIELD - Robert N. “Bob” Ivanoff, 66, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center.  Born in New York City, NY, he lived most of his life in Enfield and was a graduate of Enrico Fermi High School.  He also was a graduate of Manchester Community College, and attended Eastern Connecticut State University.  Bob worked for thirty-seven years at Electro-Methods Incorporated in South Windsor as a First-Piece Inspector.  In earlier years, he was a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 888 and a goalie coach for several boys and girls youth ice hockey organizations.  Bob’s favorite pastime was fly fishing on the beautiful Farmington River with the “Farmington River Trout Bums”, a group of special friends who he loved dearly.  He was very much admired for his skill on the river and had mastered the art of fly tying.  He also enjoyed mountain biking with his co-workers from EMI, spending time with family and friends, and had a passion for cooking and grilling.  He was an avid outdoorsman all his life.  He was predeceased by his father, Aleg Ivanoff, his father-in-law, Ralph Isherwood, and a niece, Tanya Ivanoff.  He leaves his beloved wife of thirty-six years, Karen A. (Isherwood) Ivanoff, a son and his wife, Nick and Sarah Ivanoff of South Windsor, a daughter, Alyssa Ivanoff and her fiancé, Justin LaBreck of Enfield, his mother, Charlotte (Montemarano) Ivanoff of Enfield, two sisters and their husbands, Gail and Joe Kaplan of Southwick, MA, Karen and Rob Dibiase of Enfield, a brother and his wife, Rich and Heather Ivanoff of Enfield, three brother-in-laws, Andrew and his wife Karen Isherwood of South Windsor, Dan and his wife Maureen Isherwood, David Isherwood all of Enfield, his mother-in-law, May Isherwood of Enfield.  Bob leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews: Madison, Cameron, Megan, Brian, Ryan, Jason and Stephen.  He dearly loved his aunts, uncles and many cousins.  He will be greatly missed.  The funeral will be Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 10:30am at the Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Road.  The burial will be private. Calling hours are at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019 from 4-8pm.  For online condolences, please visit www.brownefuneralchapel.com

Karen, Nick, Alyssa and Sarah so very, very sorry about soul mate's/dad's passing. You have so many great memories that he will forever be in your hearts and minds. Thought we'd share a short story.......It felt like such a short time ago, that the Ya-Ya's were going on a week-end trip and because not all of us were going to be able to make it, Karen offered to use Bob’s mini-van with the understanding we promised we would be very careful if/when eating in the van. Yes, Bob had a mini-van - weren’t we all surprised that such an outdoorsey, young man, owned a "soccer mom's" vehicle. Obviously this speaks well of his character, doesn't it? He's so layed back, kind, friendly and happy that he didn't care about what people thought, he liked the mini-van because it was easy to use with all his fishing gear. So away we go and don't you know it, she that shall remain nameless did make a chocolate mess and wow, it was all over the passenger seat and on her back pants and seemed like it was spreading. This is all happening while Karen is driving. We were all cracking up but poor Karen - well, I think she was cringing on the inside and laughing on the outside. Needless to say, it got cleaned up and all turned out well - we think. Karen - did you ever share this with Bob? Curious to know - the Ya-Ya's XXOO (It doesn't sound that funny but boy did we have a ton of laughs from this faux pas!)

Karen, Nick, and Alyssa, Although we only met Bob once at the graduation pizza party, it was obvious how much he loved you and loved life. In a brief few hours we got to meet a great guy who appreciated people and a simple meal with lots of laughter. We were thankful to have met Bob. Nick, you are a lot alike. Our love to you all, Darlene (and Monty) Nebinger
