Obituary for Rosaire J. Bouchard

Rosaire “Butch” Joseph Bouchard (89) passed away at home in Suffield, CT after a brief illness, reuniting with his beloved wife Therese (Caron) Bouchard on March 19, 2023, on the Feast of St. Joseph. Butch was born in Van Burren, Maine to Fred and Bertha Bouchard, relocating with his family to Hartford as a young adult. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Alexina Caron and Gloria Deady, brother John Bouchard and his beloved wife Theresa and her daughter Linda Rioux.
He leaves behind his devoted niece Deborah Fusick and her husband Joseph who considered Butch their second father, his sisters Patricia Martin of South Windsor, CT, Dorilda Laroche of Enfield, CT and Lorraine Beaulieu of Madawaska, ME, his brother Lucien Bouchard of Largo, FL, and Theresa’s children Bert and Rejeanne Caron and son-law Norm Rioux of ME. Therese’s grandchildren Crystal and husband Bill Lailer and William Roiux and great children Steven, Alex and Levi Roiux of ME. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Butch was a corporal in Korean War serving in the US Army. He was a custodian at Charles Wright School in Wethersfield and at US General Services Administration in Hartford.
He enjoyed camping, watching hockey and football and loved to read. He was devoted Catholic. Once you met Butch you could not help but love him.
In 1979 he received a special award from Governor Ella Grasso for the survival from the Blizzard in 1978.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Suffield by the River and Comfort Keepers, especially Crystal and Keera. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on April 15, 2023 at 10 am at St. Patrick’s Church, Enfield, with burial at a later date in Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield has been entrusted with his arrangements.
