Obituary for Roxy Bear Walsh, Service Dog

Roxy Bear Walsh (Service Dog), of West Suffield, passed away peacefully and on her own terms, Saturday January 8th, 2022 by the side of her companions Christopher and Brielle Browne Walsh.

Roxy was loved by all and gave so much love and light to those around her with her sweet nature, social grace and adventurous spirit.

A Therapy Dog, Roxy was a very well trained and an accomplished canine companion having been awarded the “Canine Good Citizen” level of achievement award by the AKC (the American Kennel Club), and was also a certified Emotional Support Animal as her purpose was to make everyone around her smile, which she did with great pride working for many, many years at The Suffield House Nursing Home as their therapy dog and later in life working at Browne Memorial Chapels helping grieving families in need during such difficult times.

Born on February 24th, 2013 in Concord, NH during a snowstorm, Roxy was just weeks shy of her 9th Birthday. Previously a resident of Boston, MA, Roxy knew her way around the city well and enjoyed Thomas Park. She looked forward to her weekend adventures to up to Sunday River in Bethel, ME enjoying hiking trips, playing in the River at Honey Hole, Screw Auger Falls & Step Falls at Grafton Notch Sate Park and most importantly, her favorite thing in life was playing in the snow.

A resident of West Suffield, CT, Roxy truly had a “dog paradise” living out her years in an generously oversized back yard equipped with a mud pit and plenty of squirrels to chase but more importantly Roxy was always loved by the world’s greatest neighbors Jill and Jeff LaDuke whom she always visited by her special gate to their yard or on their front porch. Tanya Lampron and Sean Morrison and their dog Jax of Empty Pockets Farm, where Roxy ran free and wild and was often found sunning herself on their back deck or playing in the Stony Brook. Roxy especially enjoyed her ski house at Stratton, VT with her pal Irie Morello where the two enjoyed snowy adventures together or just relaxing by the fire. Roxy was also accustomed to airplanes having flown first class and accompanied Brie & Chris to Montana where she had an absolute blast! She was a well-traveled dog, having made many trips down to Florida to where her Auntie Alyssa Szymanski-Martin would take her to the dog beach with Lilly and Lucy.

Roxy was predeceased by her best buddy Cody Linsenbigler, whom she loved to play with, Marley Walsh who she always helped find his way in his older years in life and Mia Salerno whom she shared office space with when she went to work with Mom at Coldwell Banker. Roxy passed the same day as Mavis Morello where they crossed the rainbow bridge together.

Roxy is survived by her 2 cousins Lilly Lou and Lucie May Szymanski-Martin of Apollo Beach, FL and East Windsor, CT, her neighbor Jax Lampron-Morission of West Suffield, CT, her ski house pal Irie Morello of West Suffield, CT and her best friend and buddy Paxton Cooper of Suffield, CT

At this time, Brie and Chris would like to extend many thanks to Dr. Stephen Leshem in Canton, Dr. Amy Matthews Holistic Vet in East Granby and Dr. Ann Marie Knock of Mobile Vet Services in East Windsor.

Special thanks go out to the Suffield House Nursing Home, where Roxy was the happiest “going to work”, making friends and fulfilling her purpose.

“Making friends for the world to see
Let the people know you got what you need
With a friend at hand you will see the light
If your friends are there, then everything's all right”
- Elton John

Due to unprecedented circumstances surrounding the current pandemic, Chris and Brie have decided to host a celebration of life later in the Spring. We are truly blessed to have had Roxy in our lives.
