Obituary for Sr. Mary Romuald Bednarczyk
Sr. Mary Romuald Bednarczyk, 84, died on April 15, 2021 at Our Lady of the Angels Convent, Enfield. Sister Romuald was a Felician Sister for 65 years. Born in Ludlow, MA January 2, 1937, the daughter of the late John and Julia Bednarczyk.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by four brothers; Walter, Bennie, Stanley and Joseph Bednarczyk and three sisters; Emily Gorecki, Helen Santinelli and Ann Bednarczyk.
Sister was a dedicated community member who started her professional career as a teacher who taught at St. Mary School Middletown, St. Mary School Torrington, St. Gabriel School Windsor, and St. Bernard School Enfield. Following specialized training at the University of Connecticut she received her MSW and served in social services in the healthcare profession at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, Maine. There she served in the capacity of Director of Social Services and Hospice, as well as Vice President of Mission Services from 1974 to 2013. In 2013 she assumed responsibilities at Our Lady of the Angels Convent as Mission Effectiveness Coordinator. Funeral services for Sister are private. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Enfield.
