Obituary for Susan "Susie" M. Gagnon (Preston)

Susan “Susie” M. Gagnon, of Enfield, passed from her earthly journey, at the age of 59, on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in the comfort of her home. She was the beloved wife of David J. Gagnon. She was born on January 21, 1960 in Astoria, Oregon, daughter of the late George and Carol “Snookie” (Mitchell) Preston. Susie resided in Enfield most of her life and was a graduate of Enrico Fermi High School Class of 1978, then attended nursing school and received her LPN Certificate. During her nursing career Susie worked as a dedicated nurse at area nursing home and most recently with The Suffield House. She was a parishioner of St. Bernard Church, Enfield and volunteered as a CCD teacher for the church, as well as, being a past member of the Junior Women’s Club. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, trips to Hampton Beach, celebrating the 4th of July, other events and activities with the Crescent Lake Community, time spent with family, grandchildren and friends, and also loved to entertain all on Christmas Eve.
In addition to her husband David, she is survived by her three children; David J. Gagnon, II and Paulena Desio of San Diego, CA, Sarah Chamberlain & husband Michael of Enfield, and Daniel Gagnon of Springfield, VT, eight beloved grandchildren; Leila, Haylie, Danielle, Ella, David, Dane, Damien and Jonathan, her brother Leonard “Lenny” Preston & wife Anne of Virginia Beach, VA, She also is survived by, sister-in-law Cheryl Emrick & husband Ron, of Enfield, brother-in-law Clifford Gagnon & wife Rosemary of Somers, brother-in-law Donald Gagnon & wife Tracy of SC, and sister-in-law Loretta Gagnon of Somers and their families, as well as three nieces and five nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Timothy Preston, her grandmother Ella Mitchell “Nana”, God Mother Patricia O’Neil, Father-in-law Romeo Gagnon and cousins Cheri Browne, Julie O’Neil and Sharon Mendelson.
Relatives and friends may gather with the family on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. The funeral procession will form at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 going to St. Bernard Church (St. Jeanne Jugan Parish) Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
