Obituary for Thomas Charles "Tommy" Alaimo

Thomas “Tommy” C. Alaimo, 69, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 49 years to Claudette (Labbee) Alaimo. Born on August 4, 1952 to Thomas B. and Pauline (Swinski) Alaimo. Tommy resided in Enfield for 62 years and lived in Suffield from 1965 -1972. He was a 1971 graduate of Suffield High School. Previously a small business owner and most recently retired from Sunny Border Nurseries in Kensington, CT after more than 25 years of employment. In his leisure time he enjoyed kayaking, skiing, biking, fishing, scuba diving, creating perennial gardens throughout his yard and was an auto racing enthusiast. Earlier in life he was an amateur photographer who used to take pictures for local newspapers and developed his photos in his own dark room. He had a love for the ocean and astronomy, as well as being a life-long fan of the NY Giants. Tommy had a passion for helping children battling cancer and was an active supporter with wigs for kids. Along with his wife Claudette, he is survived by his two loving daughters Lisa Paterson of Putnam, CT and Lauren Viscel & husband Christopher of Suffield, CT. His three cherished grandchildren Brayden Paterson, and Owen & Natalie Viscel. He also is survived by a brother Paul Alaimo & wife Susie of Enfield, his mother-in-law Gilberte Labbee of Enfield, sister-in-law Mimi White & Tim of Enfield, brother-in-law Paul Labbee & significant other Debbie Keller of Louisiana, as well as two nieces, a nephew and many cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his father-in-law Reynold Labbee and brother-in-law Pat Nelson. Relatives and friends may gather with the family on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick’s Church (St. Raymond of Penafort Parish) Enfield. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Suffield. Memorial donations may be made to Wigs for Kids at www.wigsforkids.org.
