Obituary for William J. Gregoire

William J. Gregoire “Bill”, 82, of Enfield entered into eternal peace on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Saint Francis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ludlow, MA on November 11, 1939, to George and Ethel (Garlick) Gregoire. Growing up in Springfield, MA he met the love of his life. Bill met Angie as a teenager and would go on to enjoy 54 years of a beautiful marriage. They would move to Enfield, CT to raise their three daughters. Bill retired from Big Y Foods in 2002 where he worked as a meat cutter for 43 years. An avid hunting, fishing, and sports enthusiast, you could often find him loudly supporting his Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. As a young man, he would find a love of singing which would remain with him for his entire life. He was a self-proclaimed Elvis impersonator and his voice would raise the spirits of everyone who heard him. A passion for singing and community would bring him to share his voice with both the Enfield Senior Center Goldtones and St. Bernard Church Choir (St. Jeanne-Jugan Parish). If you couldn’t hear him singing that probably meant that he was either at the Enfield Senior Center playing cards or pool, on one of his trips to the casino, or busy with his scratch tickets.

Bill was predeceased by his loving wife Angelina (Tranghese) Gregoire, daughter Linda Gregoire, and his sister Joan (Gregoire) Holda. He is survived by his daughter Michelle Farrell and her husband David of Enfield and his daughter Ann Gregoire of Broad Brook. Bill (Pop-Pop) leaves his three grandchildren, Donna Nee and her husband Logan, Scott Lucero, and Joanna Farrell; along with his number one pumpkin, his great-granddaughter Avery Nee. He also leaves his brother George Gregoire of Baltimore, MD and his brother-in-law John Tranghese and his wife Mary of Wilbraham, MA, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bill’s family would like to extend their thanks to the ICU staff at Saint Francis Hospital for their compassionate care in his final days.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 with the procession forming at 10:00 am at the funeral home to St. Jeanne Jugan Parish, St. Bernard Church, Enfield for a 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
