Obituary for William F. Morin

William F. Morin Sr., 81, of Enfield, beloved husband of Tracey Morin, passed away August 18th, 2022. He was born on January 5th, 1941, son of the late Francis and Helen Morin, and was a lifelong resident of Connecticut, spending his life in Suffield, Windsor, Windsor Locks, and Enfield. After graduating from Windsor High School, Bill proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for Dexter Nonwovens Division in Windsor Locks for more than 30 years before his retirement, then went on to spend 15 years at Southern Auto Auction in East Windsor.

Although Bill retired twice, he could never truly be considered retired. He was a man who could not sit still and was constantly at work maintaining the yard, making household improvements, or starting new projects, building planters and patio tables up until his final days. He could fix almost anything, usually in his own creative, but ultimately successful, way. He could often be found at his workbench in the garage, building something new, making a repair, or simply enjoying the camaraderie of his many neighborhood friends. Bill was always the first to volunteer his services and was equally happy recruiting help for projects of his own. He often couldn’t help himself from taking the lead and issuing orders - he always had a plan. While he would sometimes attempt to put up a gruff, no-nonsense exterior, his enormously kind heart and generous spirit always shined through. Bill was once a dedicated volunteer EMT for the Windsor Locks ambulance. He also volunteered as a Little League and softball coach, then later as a soccer coach in Enfield, where he made a lasting impact on those he coached. An avid hunter for many years, Bill loved wildlife and was quick to point out a deer or wild turkey through the car window before anyone else could spot it. Some of his favorite times were spent in Maine, enjoying the calm of the wooded lake with a cup of coffee after a long day.

In addition to his loving wife of 32 years, Tracey, Bill is survived by his children, who meant the world to him: Christopher and Amy Morin of Texas; William Morin Jr. and Ruth Arizaga of Florida; Michelle Morin and Phil Pignone of Windsor, CT; Sarah and Mark DeMaio of East Granby, CT; and Benjamin and Jen Wonneberger of Enfield, CT. He was affectionately known as “Gramps” to his 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Bill was the brother of the late Cecile Bigos; Francis Morin of New Hampshire; Edward Morin of Somers, CT; and Anthony Morin of Windsor, CT, and leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elaine Morin.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Sunday, August 28, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm with a memorial service immediately following at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield.
