Obituary for Lloyd "Louie" Etkin

Lloyd "Louie" Etkin
Lloyd “Louie” Etkin, 86, passed from his earthly journey on Thursday (Aug. 7, 2014). He was born on Jan. 23, 1928 in Springfield, MA the son of the late Harry and Lena (Greenberg) Etkin. He had a robust personality that was larger than life itself. Those who knew him knew of his kind and compassionate heart tucked away under his tuff exterior. Louie was a U.S. Marine Veteran of WWII.
He believed in Family first, a dedicated husband to Josephine (Viola) Etkin during their 51 yrs of marriage. Together they were truly Yin and Yang. He was a caring and loving father who spend time with his children to laugh, love and work through life's tribulations.
Louie was a leader and worked himself up through the ranks to become President of Iron Workers Local 15 and 424. As president he encouraged and provided people of all cultures the opportunities for a career in iron construction. He always believed that doing the right thing in all situations should not be compromised and he lived his life that way. His life was full of adventure and love. He will be missed.
Louie is survived by his three children, Lynne E. Turin & husband Robert of West Hartford, CT, Lisa Etkin of Enfield and Vinson Scicolone & wife Lynda of E. Springfield, MA, a granddaughter, Rebecca Ann Olesen and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Rose Lamoureux and a brother Abraham Etkin, along with many nieces and nephews.
