Obituary for Roger W. Geery

Roger W.  Geery
Roger W. Geery, 70, of Enfield, entered into Eternal Life on Monday Nov. 7, 2016 in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of Judith A. (Fleck) Geery. Roger was born on Feb. 7, 1946 in Bayonne, NJ to the late William R. and Florence (Sheran) Geery. He was a graduate of Bayonne, NJ H.S. Class of 1964 and Military Naval Aviation Schools. Roger had resided in Enfield for the past 41 years and for 4 years in Glastonbury before that. Roger served our country proudly with the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to retiring in 2011 he was the owner and operator of Geery’s Fine Arts for 27 years and before that was employed at Pratt & Whitney and a professional chef in the Hartford area at various Hotels & Restaurants. He received the Shodan Level in Japanese Sword. Roger was a member of the Pipe Band at St. Columcille’s Kearny, NJ, St. Patrick’s – Manchester, CT, Springfield Kilty, Springfield, MA and Holyoke Caledonian, Holyoke, MA. Roger was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was larger than life and made an impact on everyone he came in contact with. He shared his love and extensive knowledge of history with his grandson, his passion for cooking with his granddaughter, countless life lessons with his daughters, and an everlasting love for his wife. He was a storyteller, a craftsman, and an overall Bon Vivant. He will be greatly missed but his stories will live on.
Along with his wife Judith of 49 years Roger is survived by his two loving daughters Nancy Geery of Atlanta, GA, and Siubhan Clark & her husband Andrew of West Chester, PA, his two beloved & cherished grandchildren Liam & Maiti Clark, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Geery.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Friday Nov. 11, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat. Nov. 12 at 11:00 am in Sacred Heart Church 446 Mountain Rd. Suffield, CT. (Please meet at church). Burial with military honors will take place on Tuesday Nov. 15, 2016 at 10:00 am in the CT Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery Bow Lane Middletown, CT. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Archdiocese of Hartford, Malta Bus, 134 Farmington Ave, Hartford, CT 06105.
