Patricia  "Pat" A.  Spanswick (Lapinski)
Patricia “Pat” A. (Lapinski) Spanswick, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2017 with loved ones by her side at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on August 1, 1940 the daughter of the late Walter and Vlady (Dembroski) Lapinski. She was a graduate of Cathedral H.S. Springfield, MA and continued her education having received her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Pat resided in Enfield for 54 years and in Springfield, MA before that. During her career in nursing she was employed in the Labor & Delivery Room at Mercy Hospital, Wesson Women’s Hospital, and Baystate Medical Center. Pat briefly taught a Nurse’s Aide Course at Enfield High School. She then became an Occupational Nurse at General Electric & Electric Boat in Windsor, CT. In 2010 she retired from the Enfield Ambulatory Center, after 50 years in nursing. Pat enjoyed her career almost as much as she loved her family. In her leisure time she enjoyed trips to the casinos, hosting family gatherings and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Pat is survived by her four children; Linda Spanswick of Bristol, Susan Sevigny & husband David of Rocky Hill, Bill Spanswick & wife Jessica of Enfield, and Bob Spanswick & wife Beth of Ellington, her five beloved grandchildren, David, Julia, and Matthew Sevigny, Jack and Ethan Spanswick. She is also survived by her sister; Adele Ormsby of FL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Antoinette Rooney.
Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. Funeral Services will be on Friday Jan. 5 2017 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at St. Martha’s Church, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor, 1365 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT 06082.
