Leon J.T.  Zaccaro
Leon J.T. Zaccaro, entered into eternal life at the age of 83 on Monday December 7, 2009.
Leon was a loving and devoted husband especially to his beloved wife, of 62 years Irene (Thomas) Zaccaro having cared for her during her early stages of Alzheimer and his devotion continued on with daily visits to her at The Suffield House. Leon's life revolved around his beloved family and was also a dedicated father and grandfather who attended many of his grandchildren's activities and supported their endeavors. Besides his beloved wife, Irene he leaves many fond memories to be cherished by his son, Douglas Zaccaro and his wife, Pamela of Hopkinton, MA and their children; Mairead & Lora Zaccaro, his daughter, Lorraine Dentamaro of Enfield and her children; Anthony, Michael & Theresa Dentamaro and Angela Edwards, his son, Warren Zaccaro and his wife, Margaret of Minnetonka, MN and their children; Katie, Maribeth & Tim Zaccaro, along with several siblings and many nieces and nephews. He was born on April 6, 1926 in Hartford, CT and had resided in Enfield for the past year, prior to that in Suffield for 6 years and was also a longtime resident of Manchester. Leon received his B.S. with honors from the University of Connecticut. He served his country honorably with the US Army during WW II. Leon was a retired Officer of The Travelers Insurance Co., as Secretary of the Casualty Property Department for many years. He was a member of St. Adalbert's Church, Enfield and former member of St. James and Assumption Churches in Manchester.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday December 10, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday December 11, with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels to St. Adalbert Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow with military honors in St. James Cemetery 368 Broad St. Manchester, CT. Leon's request was to have memorial donations in support of Irene's illness be made to the Alzheimer's Association 279 New Britain Rd. Suite 5 Kensington, CT 06037.
