Sr. M. Phyllis Nowak, formerly known as Sr. Mary Philothea, entered into eternal life at the age of 98 on Monday (May 31, 2010), at the Felician Sister’s Convent in Holy Family Infirmary, Enfield. Sr. Phyllis was born on Sept. 28, 1911 in Adams, MA daughter of the late John and Caroline (Banas) Nowak. She was a member of the Felician Sisters for 79 years having ministered at St. Bernard’s School in Enfield, St. Mary’s School in Torrington, Ss Cyril and Methodius School in Hartford, St. Joseph’s School in Rockville and St. Joseph’s Parish in Suffield.
Funeral service for Sister will be held on Thursday (June 3, 2010) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in OLA Chapel. Interment will follow in St. Adalberts Cemetery, Enfield. The Felician Sister’s will receive friends on Wednesday (June 2, 2010) from 2 to 4:30 pm at which time Sister’s body will be transferred to the Chapel for Evening Prayer Service.
