Keith meets John Thompson

Keith and his brother Mark along with myself and my brother Rob used to go to UConn Husky basketball games long before they become the national program they are now. We shared season tickets and watched them struggle many years as they tried to build the program. If I remember correctly, it was a Saturday afternoon and the Husky men were hosting the powerhouse Georgetown Hoyas, coached by their famous coach, John Thompson. It was an exciting game and the energy in the Civic Center was high, being feed by the four of us but especially Keith. Well sure enough, the Huskies beat the nationally ranked Hoyas and many people began to storm to court in celebration. We were a number of rows up but Keith decided to join the action. From our seats we could see Keith make his way to the court and then run onto the hardwood He ran with his head down and his arms out, kinda like an airplane flying around the court. Well the airplane came to an abrupt halt as Keith fly right into John Thompson's chest. Thompson being about 6' 6" towered over Keith and Keith looked up at him for just a moment. Keith then put his head back down and his arms out and continued to fly around the court with the thousands of other UConn fans celebrating an great win in their history. We had many games we had seen previous to this one and many more after, all with the own memories. While many years have passed since then and our lives have evolved in separate ways, I will always remember the many, many fun times we had together. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Zachary family and everyone else who has been touched by the loss of Keith.
