Obituary for Ann C. McNamara (Astle)

Ann C. (Astle) McNamara, 87, of Enfield, died peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Middletown, Ann was the daughter of the late Paul V. and Ann (Schenck) Astle. Ann has resided in Enfield for over sixty years, and was a founding member and communicant of Holy Family Church. Ann retired from Hallmark Cards after twenty-two years of service. In her leisure time, Ann enjoyed knitting and she gave of her talent by knitting hats and scarves for the Plainville Food Pantry and many other organizations in need. She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-two years, Lawrence McNamara; her children, Christopher McNamara and his wife, Lynn of Nunda, NY, Michael McNamara and his wife, Gloria of Battle Creek, MI, and Mary-Ellen Yezek and her husband, Richard of Plainville, CT; three grandchildren, Ian McNamara, Timothy McNamara and Meaghan Grohalski; and two great grandchildren, David McNamara and Landon Grohalski. Ann was predeceased by her brothers, Paul V. Astle and Robert J. Astle. Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 by 9:15 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels for a procession to Holy Family Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill. Ann’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. Ann’s family would like to thank the staff of Parkway Pavilion and St. Francis Hospital for their wonderful care. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
