Elizabeth "Liz"  Oliver  (Welchek)
Elizabeth “Liz” (Welchek) Oliver, 90, of Enfield, entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday Aug. 4, 2018 in the comfort of her home, with loved ones at her side. She was the beloved wife of 43 years to Ernest L. Oliver. Elizabeth was born on Sept. 6, 1927 in Westfield, MA, to the late Charles and Anna (Ellias) Welchek. She had resided in Enfield for the past 70 years and in Westfield, MA before that where she attended grammar and high schools. Then continued her education at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and Elms College. In her 70 years of Nursing she was employed with Dr. Figueora for over 15 yrs., Pedi-Care over 20 yrs., along with various hospitals retiring in 2013. Liz was a member of the Red Hats Society, Boys Scouts of America, Somers Senior Center, and Asnuntuck Community College Foundation. She enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting and nursing.
Liz is survived by her children; Bruce L. Oliver of Enfield, David F. Oliver of Stafford, Paul E. Oliver of Enfield and Cathy Garvey & husband Kevin of Stafford, her three grandchildren; Christopher Oliver, Matthew Wekerle & Suzette, and Christopher Garvey & wife Rachel and their children, Ian and Samantha, and great grandson Robert Wekerle and Zach, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a son Robert A. Oliver, a sister and brother-in-law, Ann & Charlie Pendleton and a brother Michael Welchek.
Liz’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday Aug. 8, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Service with Fr. John Golas officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels. Interment will then take place in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor/St. Joseph’s Residence, 1365 Enfield Street Enfield, CT 06082.
