Edward "Ed" J.  Harris
Edward J. Harris, 84, of Enfield, beloved husband of the late Katherine “Kay” E. (Brown) Harris, died peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on August 13, 1930, Ed was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Shea) Harris. Ed had lived in Enfield for fifty-seven years. He graduated from Cathedral High School and Providence College. Ed was a founding member and communicant of Holy Family Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and lector. Ed was an auditor with Pratt and Whitney for thirty-four years and retired in 1987. He served on the Enfield Planning and Zoning Committee, Democratic Town Committee and was Secretary for the building committee of JFK School. He is survived by his children, James M. Harris and his wife, Janet of Tolland, Mary Ann Harris of Enfield, and Edward J. Harris and his wife, Dawn of Enfield; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amanda, Danielle and Christopher and many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his sister, Helen Bourgeois. Family and friends will gather on Thursday, February 26, 2015 by 9:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels for a procession to Holy Family Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. A private interment will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Ed’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o of Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield, CT 06082.
