Obituary for Walter J. "Ceily" Buika

Walter J.”Ceily” Buika, 84 of Enfield entered into eternal rest on Wed. Aug. 29, 2007 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MA. Walter was the beloved husband of 58 years to Frances (Klebosky) Buika. He was born on Aug. 8, 1923 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield and was a lifelong resident. Walter was a son of the late James and Anna (Stanczyk) Buika. He served his country honorably with the US Army during WW II. Prior to his retirement in 1988, Walter was employed by Crouse Hinds, Inc., Windsor for 10 years, before that he worked for Kaman Aircraft, Choice Vend and Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. In his leisure time he enjoyed cooking and baking, since Walter loved his sweets especially cakes and cookies. He also enjoyed watching western movies and liked those featuring John Wayne. He was an active member of the John Maciolek Post 154 American Legion, Enfield and a member of St. Adalbert's Church. Besides his wife, Frances, Walter is survived by his two loving daughters; Lauren Buika of Windsor Locks and Sharon Buika of Enfield, his beloved grandson, Andrew & his wife, Rachel, along with many nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by a sister, Stella and two brothers, Benjamin and Edward. Walter's family would like to especially thank Dr. Darren O'Neill and the nursing staff at Mercy Hospital's 5-2 Unit for the caring, compassion and special attention given to Walter. Funeral services in celebration of Walter's life will be held on Saturday Sept. 1, 2007. A procession will form at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00am from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield interment with military honors will follow in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Enfield. Walter's family will receive relatives and friends during calling hours TODAY Friday Aug. 31, from 4 to 8 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels.
