Ivan R.  Chaplin
Ivan R. Chaplin, of Enfield, entered peacefully into eternal life at the age of 70 on Friday (July 1, 2011) in the comfort of his home with his loving family at his side. He was the beloved husband of 51 years to Sandra (Poland) Chaplin and son of the late Philip and Hilda (Pollander) Chaplin. Ivan was born on October 3, 1940 in St. Albans, VT and had resided in Enfield for 45 years. Prior to retiring in 2004 Ivan was a self employed truck mechanic, having owned and operated I & S Road Service for over 23 years. He was a member of the K of C Council 50, Enfield and the William Kilcoyne 4th Degree Assembly and the color guard, he was also a member of the East Windsor Sportsman Club and NRA.
He was a loving husband to his wife Sandra, beloved father to Charlotte Laugherty & her husband Terry of Apopka, FL, Laurie Chaplin & her life partner Lorraine Pinette of Windsor Locks, Robin Hawes & her husband Keith of also of Windsor Locks and Joseph Chaplin & his wife Tammy of Enfield, grandfather to his 8 cherished grandchildren: P.J., Pinky, Maya, Johnny, Laurie, Sarah, Jake and Justin, great grandfather to two loving great grandchildren; Kaevonna Marie and Jayden Ivan Joseph and brother to Philip Chaplin, Jr. of Montana. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him, especially his beloved dog “Queenie”.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Ivan’s life will be held on Thursday July 7, 2011 at 7 pm. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield.
Ivan’s family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Committal services will be at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Home & Community Health Services, Inc. Hospice Program P.O. 1199 Enfield, CT 06083-1199.
