Sister Mary Evelyn died in the Infirmary of the Felician Sisters, Enfield, CT, Born in Manchester, NH, she was one of eight children of the late Anthony and Angela (Kula) Rybicki,
As a member of St. Hedwig's Parish, Manchester, NH, she attended St. Casmir School and then attended Immaculate Conception High School, Lodi, NJ, graduating in 1937. Sister was accepted as a postulant in the Felician Sisters Congregation that year.
Sister Evelyn taught in schools conducted by the Felician Sisters in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont. For many years, she taught French and music at Our Lady of the Angels Academy while also serving as organist and choir director at Our Lady of the Angels Provincial House. For the past 15 years Sister served as organist at St. Martha Parish, Enfield, where she founded the Resurrection Choir to sing for funerals. For almost 30 years and as recently as this past year, she instructed piano students.
Sister Evelyn is predeceased by four brothers: Philip, Walter, John and Victor. She is survived by two sisters, Jane Maron of Middletown, CT and Helen Hintz of Virginia Beach, VA and a brother, Edmund of Hull, MA as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours at Our Lady of the Angels Convent, 1315 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT, will take place on Monday, July 30 from 1 - 8 p m. Transportation of Sister's body to the Convent Chapel will take place at 4:30 followed by Evening Prayer.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 31 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel, Enfield, CT.
