Obituary for Alfred J. "Biff" Byron

Alfred "Biff” J. Byron, 80 of Enfield, CT, entered into eternal life on Friday, July 13, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. He was born on Dec. 18, 1926 in the Cottage Green section of Thompsonville, CT, a son of the late Emmett & Eliza (Wild) Byron and was a lifelong resident of the Enfield community. Alfred served his country honorably with the US Navy during WW II. Prior to his retirement he was employed with the Town of Enfield Board of Education as a custodian at Henry Barnard Elem. School for 30 years and with Kaman Aerospace Corp. Bloomfield for 10 years before that. In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking & collecting coins, he was an avid Celtics & Green Bay Packers fan. He is survived by his three sons; Alfred A. Byron and his wife Sandra of Enfield, CT, Mark E. Byron of Astoria, NY and Todd C. Byron of Springfield, MA, his four beloved grandchildren; Jennifer Blake, Jonathan Byron, David Byron and Nicholas Byron and three great grandchildren; Taylor Blake, Anthony Byron and Dominic Byron, also his former wife and friend, Lilli Anne (Cancemi). He also leaves six siblings; Ethel Reeves of Oregon, Emmett Byron of California, Tom Byron of Alaska, Henry Byron of Oregon, Robert Byron of Windsor Locks, and Marion Fecteau of Texas along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a sister; Evelyn Gotts.
Funeral services in celebration of Alfred's life will be held on Monday, July 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield, CT. Interment will follow with military honors in the Enfield Street Cemetery, Enfield, CT. His family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, July 15, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1365 Enfield St., Enfield, CT 06082 or the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.O.
