Obituary for Norman E. Musk

Norman E. "Jack” Musk, 74, of Enfield, husband of 40 years to the late Jeanne (Porter) Musk (May, 1996) entered into eternal rest after a long valiant battle with kidney disease on Monday April 17, 2006 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs. He was born on Jan. 3, 1932 in Hartford, CT son of the late Charles F. and Agnes (Giles) Musk. Norman dedicated his life to caring for his wife and maintaining an active presence in various military organizations. His sincere devotion & commitment to Jeanne allowed her to remain at home for as long as possible despite a debilitating, progressive, terminal illness. Upon her death, Norman carried this same level of commitment to serving all veterans. He served his country honorably with the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. At the time of his death, Norman was the current Pack Leader and lifetime member of CT Pack of Military Order of Devil Dogs; Veterans Coalition Officer for Marine Corps League; Veterans' Representative for Rocky Hill Veterans Home for DAV and Marine Corps League; Recipient of numerous achievement awards and commendations for his distinguished service to all veterans, including his most cherished award the Chapel of the Four Chaplains. He continued to raise the bar in his tireless efforts and he set an example for others to follow. Norman was a lifetime member of the following organizations; Hardware City Detachment of Marine Corps League, New Britain & Houghton Detachment of Eastern CT, VFW Post 1724 Willimantic, John Maciolek Post 154 American Legion Enfield, AMVETS Post 18, Enfield, AMVETS VAVS State of CT, he also was a member of the 1st Marine Div Asst. Life, B-1-5 Baker Bandits Korea, C-1-5 Korea, life member DAV Post 54, Enfield and Korean War Veterans CH-1 CT. Norman was formerly employed with Emhart Glass Co., Windsor for many years. Left to mourn his departure from this life are his devoted friends; Beth and Jay Lawlor & family of Windsor, Ron Collins of Windsor, Richard Wearne of Berlin, Ray Carrier of Prospect and many others, along with several nieces, nephews & cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, wife and brother. Special thanks to Dr. Ann Leland-Koss, Norman's longtime physician at the Newington VAMC, his family physician, Dr. Sebastian George and to the staff in the ER & ICU at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Funeral services in celebration of Norman's life will be held on Saturday April 22, 2006 at 8:30am from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Martha's Church 214 Brainard Rd. Enfield. Interment with military honors will take place in the Palmertown Cemetery Scotland, CT. Calling hours are on Friday April 21, from 5 to 8pm at Browne Funeral Chapels, a Marine Corps Wake Service will be held at 7pm. Memorial donations in Norman's memory maybe made to the VA Volunteer Services 287 West St. Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
