Obituary for Michael P. Flaherty, Sr.

Michael P. Flaherty, Sr., 60, of Enfield, beloved husband of 34 years the late Mary M. (Hebert) Flaherty (Aug. 6, 2002), entered into eternal peace, Sunday August 13, 2006 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA. Born on September 4, 1945 in Stafford Springs, CT he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Harriet L. (Kingston) Flaherty and was a lifelong resident of Enfield. He attended Hazardville Memorial Grammar School, Kosciusko Jr. High, and graduated from Enrico Fermi High School. Michael was an Iron Worker with Local #15 for 35 years and had managed Tiny's Bar in Thompsonville for 5 years. He was a member of the Enfield Elks Lodge #2222, Greys Athletic Assoc. Club and enjoyed scouting out tag sales and computers. Michael is survived by his son; Michael P. Flaherty, Jr., of Enfield, his daughter; Michele M. Flaherty and fiancé Ben C. Stone of Seymour, CT, a brother; Thomas C. Flaherty, a brother and sister-in-law; Carl J. and Nancy Flaherty, a sister and brother-in-law; Nancy and Ed Bajek and a sister; Patricia Criscitelli all of Enfield, a sister and brother-in-law; Kathy and Jim Maynard of Maine, a brother; Timothy Flaherty of Enfield, a brother and sister-in-law; John and Laura Flaherty of Meriden and a brother; Terry Flaherty of Enfield, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves "Chopper” his dog and favorite playmate. Besides his wife and parents Michael was predeceased by two brothers; Richard W. and James H. Flaherty. Funeral services in celebration of Michael's life will be held on Thursday Aug. 17, 2006 at 11:00am from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Interment will follow in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. Michael's family will receive relatives and friends on Wed. Aug. 16, from 4 to 8 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, an Elk Service will be held at 7:30pm. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc. 2550 US Highway1 N.
